A Year With Kew Gardens

A look back at our year filming with Kew Gardens…

2024 saw the start of an exciting new relationship for Rise Media as we teamed up with the prestigious Kew Gardens. After winning a public tender for their video production needs, we were thrilled to be chosen as their preferred supplier and have the chance to film in this iconic, beautiful location. Here’s a look at the fantastic work we’ve done together this year.

Marc Quinn – Light into Life

Our first project with Kew was one to remember. We were tasked with creating a captivating TV advert for Marc Quinn’s Light into Life exhibition. The brief called for a 30-second hero film with a voice-over, plus a few shorter edits to maximise impact on social media. We used both a ground-based unit and a drone to capture stunning cinematic visuals, and managed to create a film that truly reflects the beauty and intrigue of Marc Quinn’s art.

Member Film and Visitor Film

Next up, we worked on two cinematic adverts designed to boost both membership and visitor bookings for Kew Gardens. For the membership film, we focused on the unique benefits of becoming a member, like exclusive access to events, priority booking, and discounts. We also showcased the 300 acres of breathtaking gardens, the play areas, and the magical glasshouses that make Kew such a special place to explore.

For the visitor film, we highlighted the family-friendly atmosphere of the gardens, with a particular emphasis on the year-round children’s garden. We aimed to inspire families to spend quality time at Kew, with plenty of adventure, relaxation, and new discoveries around every corner. Both films wrapped with clear calls to action, encouraging visitors to sign up and explore all that Kew Gardens has to offer.

A Summer Shoot

In preparation for an exciting upcoming project, we worked closely with the team to plan a visually striking film that will showcase some of the most iconic trees in their collection. Our pre-production involved creating a detailed map to plan the shoots and ensure we captured every angle of these standout trees. Making the most of two sunny shoot days, we filmed everything in-house, focusing on the beauty of the canopies, bark, and leaves. We can’t wait to share the final film, so watch this space – it’s coming soon!

Thank You Film: Celebrating Kew’s Impact

Lastly, we created a powerful film to shine a light on the incredible work of Kew’s scientists, horticulturists, and members in preserving the natural world. This film emphasised the global impact of Kew’s research and conservation efforts, from the Millennium Seed Bank’s work safeguarding 2.4 billion seeds, to their groundbreaking studies into plants for life-saving medicines.

The film also celebrated the power of membership, with over 100,000 members supporting vital research, sustainability, and biodiversity initiatives. The tone was inspiring and emotional, with breathtaking visuals and a hopeful message about collective action in the fight against climate change.

Looking Ahead

We’re really looking forward to what’s next with Kew Gardens. With so many exciting projects in the pipeline, we can’t wait to keep collaborating. Bring on another year at Kew!
