Josh Taylor
Tartan Tornado
The Brief
Josh Taylor is now a unified light-welterweight world champion, but at the time of filming, he was an exciting, up-and-coming new talent.
We produced this short hype piece for a contact at News UK, aiming to capture Josh where he feels most comfortable – training and in the ring.
Kit, Set Up & Production
We filmed in a boxing gym in Battersea. The film shows Josh walking into the gym wearing a suit, before getting ready for training. We captured close ups of Josh wrapping his hands to add detail, and mixed in training with shots of Josh reviewing his fight footage in order to study himself and improve.
We used varied pacing and colour contrast to add interest to this final piece, with the film moving from black and white into full colour in the final shot.
FUN FACT: Our hazer stopped working on a shoot the day before we were due to film with Josh. Knowing that the hazer was essential for a shoot like this, Mark & Dan managed to source a replacement whilst driving to the boxing gym. They called every party shop to check stock along the route until finally they found one in Wimbledon… It was only a 10 minute detour, perfect.
Rise are fantastic and always delivered in spades for our video team at News UK. They are our go to production company and never let us down.
